The Next Step London South Team, managed by District Manager Shaunagh Gwynn, recently participated in 2 high profile careers events held in their local areas to promote Next Step and its services.
A team consisting of advisers Jennie James, Jacqui Sang, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Roger Dickens, Luz Gomez and Karyn Cecchini attended and manned the Next Step stand at The Croydon Jobs Fair Event at The Croydon Fairfield Halls; this also provided a separate area for one to one discussions between advisers and clients. 97 visitors registered with Next Step on the day, in addition to this people also visited the stand and took information away with them.
All those who registered were offered a one to one session and were also given information about CV’s, job search sites, LinkedIn and much more. Many visitors commented on the professionalism and knowledge of the advisers at the stand and requested follow up appointments with whoever they had specifically seen.
Following this was the first Oxleas NHS Careers Event; this was held to encourage clients from Oxleas to meet both local and national organisations including Next Step, to become aware of and access their services. Next Step’s Bromley Borough advisers Jan Cartmell-Hull and Jennie James were present and conducted CV advisory sessions with visitors to the Next Step stand.
The ladies were also approached by the Mayor of Bromley, David McBride, who was at the event to present several awards to the Oxleas clients. Mayor McBride was very impressed and interested in discussing the successful work Next Step does within the Bromley Boroughs, as well as the resources it could provide. After having press photos taken with the Next Step Jan and Jennie, Mayor McBride left with a selection of Next Step leaflets and encouraged the ladies to continue with their hard work.
